Citizens' Advisory Board & Members

The Citizens' Advisory Board (CAB) promoted active communication among the City of Rensselaer, Rensselaer County and Besicorp-Empire Development Company, LLC (BEDCO). The Board’s purpose wasto develop an understanding and resolution of issues related to the facilities which BEDCO proposed. The objectives of this Citizens' Advisory Board were:

1. To identify, discuss, and advise on safety, health, environmental and civic concerns.

2. To promote mutual understanding and responsiveness between the community and BEDCO.

3. To obtain and understand information relating to BEDCO's plans and development activities in the City of Rensselaer.

4. To provide input to BEDCO regarding other relevant community issues.

5. To obtain feedback from and provide information to the community.

6. To discuss potential host community benefits to the entire community; including support for regional paper recycling programs, school programs, and new economic and job growth for the region.
